With the Open File Manager Plugin Module, there is no need to close applications or lock users out during a backup. The Open File Manager Plugin Module synchronizes the data at a point in time when it is stable across the entire disk volume, to give you a coherent backup. It seamlessly integrates with NetVault®: Backup to provide the most comprehensive file system protection.

When NetVault: Backup executes a backup, a dynamically allocated pre-image cache is created for all open files on the system. Only changed data is stored in the pre-image cache  not entire files.

When NetVault: Backup reaches a portion of a file that has changed, the Open File Manager Plugin Module will substitute the original (pre-write) data from the pre-image cache to fulfill the backup request. This precision results in the most complete and accurate backup and restore.
