Disk Drives

Tape Drives and DLTs

Internal Digital Data Storage (DDS) tape drives, despite being the most common backup device, are notorious for failing.  Abtech carries a ready supply of rock solid replacement drives so you will not experience a gap in your daily backups.
To help you keep your downtime and recovery minimal, Abtech suggests replacing your DDS drives with Digital Linear Tape (DLT).  DLT is one of several technologies developed in recent years to increase the data-transfer rates and storage capacities of computer tape drives. Since there is no contact of the tape head to the tape in DLT you will get minimal wear on the media. It is a faster and much more reliable backup device if all you need is a single tape drive.
