Abtech has partnered with Red Hat to deliver desktop virtualization to our customers. Red Hat Desktop Virtualization is built on Red Hat’s proven server virtualization platform. It uses Red Hat’s SPICE protocol to deliver the image to the desktop.

Abtech has partnered with Red Hat to deliver desktop virtualization to our customers. Red Hat Desktop Virtualization is built on Red Hat's proven server virtualization platform. It uses Red Hat's SPICE protocol to deliver the image to the desktop.

  • SPICE determines the most efficient place to process graphics in order to maximize the user experience and minimize the system load.
  • If the client is powerful enough, SPICE sends the graphics commands to the client, and processes them at the client level, significantly reducing the load on the server.
  • On the other hand, if the client is not powerful enough, SPICE processes the graphics at the host level, where graphics processing is a lot less expensive from a CPU perspective.


    • This is particularly suited to customers who want to retain their desktop PCs rather than migrating to thin clients. They can take advantage of the latest software without having to upgrade their desktop hardware.
