SGI servers
SGI continues to innovate in designing scalable, efficient computing architectures while adopting standard components for cost-effectiveness. Leveraging standard Linux® as well as Intel® dual-core Itanium® 2 and Intel® Xeon® processors, SGI servers now effectively fit multiple target workflows:
- Powerful and flexible SGI® Altix® 4700 blade servers provide industry-leading performance where large global shared memory and tremendous bandwidth effectively run the most demanding data-intensive applications
- SGI® Altix® 450 midrange blade servers support departmental workflows where enterprise-class performance is needed in versatile, standards-based system
- Affordable, no-fuss clusters-SGI® Altix® XE fits the classic cluster workflow environment and is an opportunity to grow business in a previously unavailable market
- SGI® Altix® ICE is the next-generation, fully integrated blade compute solution that redefines "cluster computing", and offers important breakthroughs - performance density, power/cooling, efficiency, and reliability - in one powerful system.
- Pre-integrated SGI Altix XE solution bundles combine hardware and software to deliver application-specific clusters
The company known for delivering High Performance Computing (HPC) that works has the solutions HPC users need for real results. The same industry-leading HPC technology that has driven innovative breakthroughs at organizations like NASA can be of great value to corporations that rely heavily on data-intensive activities such as business intelligence, data warehousing or business analytics to drive their business processes or achieve competitive edge.
SGI® Altix® Server Family
The SGI Altix family is built on SGI's proven SGI® NUMAflex® architecture, which features a high-performance interconnect, large shared-memory capability, and modular flexibility. The server family is based on industry-standard economies of Linux® and Intel® processors.
SGI® Altix® ICE
SGI Altix ICE, based on Dual-core and Quad-core Intel® Xeon® 5000 processors and the Linux® operating system, is an entirely new platform offering an integrated blade architecture (including interconnect and software), high-end scalability, and advanced reliability and density features. SGI Altix ICE also offers exceptional price/performance, reduced component costs, and power/cooling advances.
SGI® Altix® XE
SGI Altix XE is a value-priced family of Linux® OS-based servers and factory-integrated clusters powered by the Dual-Core and Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor 5100 architecture. The new systems are the first Xeon processor-based products from SGI - and unlike competing systems typically sold as one-off clusters, SGI Altix XE solutions come custom-configured to optimize leading applications.
SGI® Altix® 450
SGI Altix 450, a blade server fueled by next-generation dual-core Intel® Itanium® 2 processors. The Altix 450 delivers up to 2.5 times the performance of the current Altix® 350 server at a lower system cost. Altix 450 servers can be configured to maximize density, I/O or memory, or mixed to accommodate any workflow.
SGI® Altix® 4000
SGI Altix 4000 features performance density, 'plug and solve' configurability and continues Altix systems' lead in price-performance for high end servers in a blade form factor. Altix 4000 is the first 64-bit Linux® server with a blade design that offers true 'plug and solve' flexibility. Users can readily configure any combination of blades - including multiple types of both standard and configurable compute as well as, memory, I/O and graphics - as their needs change. Altix 4000 is socket-compatible with upcoming single and dual-core Intel® Itanium® 2 processors.
